Breaking down barriers with bowling balls

image
Residents of the Foyer benefited from a Quick Response grant from Poulton Neighbourhood Management to hold a bowling night with local police officers.
The ‘Breaking Down Barriers’ project enabled the residents from the Foyer to take on local police officers at ten pin bowling. The aim of the project was for the young people to get to know the officers in a relaxed and fun environment to help build trust and communication.
Janice Wood from the Foyer, said: “The competition for the shield was the third leg and the police were victorious, however Foyer residents put up a brilliant resistance. The evening was a complete success and achieved its aim of breaking down stereotypical views and barriers.
The buffet afterwards made the evening even more delightful.”

KICKZ

Do you enjoy a kickabout with your friends, but have nowhere to go?  Would you like to be able to just turn up somewhere and have professional coaches showing you basic football skills, and perhaps have a game?
Well, Poulton Neighbourhood Management in conjunction with Morecambe Football Club and the police has just launched the new KICKZ programme aimed at 13 – 19 year olds.  This will take place initially on at Morecambe Community High School on Friday evenings between 7 and 9 pm and is free to anyone from the Poulton area who turns up and registers.
Initially the sessions are on Friday nights within the gym at Morecambe Community High School, but soon it will be 2 nights per week if there is sufficient demand.
So come on – what would you rather be doing on a Friday evening? This is an opportunity to have a good kickabout and learn some great football skills – and for free!
