Calender Sales Contribute Over £400 To Winter Gardens
A big well done and a huge thank you to everyone who has bought a Poulton Neighbourhood Management calendar helping to raise a whopping £450 for the Friends of the Winter Gardens.
The calendar provides a nostalgic glimpse of Poulton’s past, celebrating the rich historical heritage associated with our area. There are superb photographs of Poulton Square and the lovely cottages that stood where the Police Station is now as well as many other pictures capturing the atmosphere of a thriving seaside resort.
Each calendar costs £5.00 and the whole amount is donated to the Winter Gardens. It comes at an important time for the Winter Gardens group who are in the process of purchasing the building and are trying to raise all the funds they can.We have some of the calendars left if people are still interested; please call into the Neighbourhood Management office.
Blanco’s Pet Shop
Blanco’s Pet Shop on Queen Street has been looking after Poulton resident’s pets for 27 years. The shop opened in 1978 and sells most of the top brands of pet foods and accessories - everything you need for your beloved creatures. Blanco’s specialise in Aviary and cage birds, there’s plenty of choice from finches to parrots. There are many other small animals inside the shop, such as rabbits, gerbils, and coldwater fish. Two residents of the shop are Marmosets ‘Clyde’ and ‘Pixie’. Marmosets are the smallest of the New World primates and are native to South America. They are really cute looking with their little monkey-like faces, although they aren’t for sale as they are very difficult to look after, but they are adorable to watch as they swing around their cage.
One thing you can be assured of when shopping at Blanco’s is a friendly welcome. Shop owner, Ted Kerry said: “We are grateful to all of our customers, old and new, for their continued custom. Many of them are like old friends. Everyone is welcome to call in for a chat or advice on pet matters.”
