Fisherman’s Square Transformation

The transformation of Fisherman’s Square is almost finished and we hope that you agree the end result is a dramatic improvement.
The transformation ties in modern landscaping design whilst remaining in keeping with Poulton’s heritage.
Because of the square’s association with Poulton’s fishing heritage we commissioned a design which reflects our local history.  The improvements incorporate a thematic representation of Morecambe Bay.  An interpretation panel will be installed soon and it will explain exactly how the design represents Morecambe Bay.
The symbol of Poulton, the three fishes has been recreated in a mosaic and is a focal point within the scheme.  This already appears on bollards within the Homezone, on a mural on Poulton Road, on the school uniforms of Poulton le Sands Primary School and is the emblem for Morecambe Parish Church and so it has a unique local identity.

On Saturday afternoon there will be free entertainment on offer by Shakin’ Stevens impresario Ricky Aron, Buddy Holly tribute Craig Martin and the Wild Kats NW will end the afternoon with their fantastic set. There will be lots of activities on offer including free Punch and Judy shows, dancing, fairground rides (may be a small charge for selected rides), vintage vehicles, stalls and lots more. All this will be on Saturday 26th July at The Platform on Central Promenade, Morecambe.
Come dressed in fifties fashion and you might win a prize!
