Easter Football Fun
During the Easter holidays children from the local primary schools will be taking part in a four day ‘Football for All’ event.
The soccer skills school will teach pupils from Poulton-le-Sands Primary School and Morecambe Bay Primary School football skills as well as how to enhance fitness levels whilst promoting good behaviour.
A fully qualified Football Association coach organises a full programme of activities as well as devising a personal development plan and progress report for each player.
The four day event also helps to encourage positive values such as teamwork, communication skills, attitude and awareness. Prizes will be up for grabs all week for displays of excellent behaviour.
The event is totally free for those who have elected to join in. A free healthy lunch is provided every day.
This is a regular event organised and funded by Poulton Neighbourhood Management and hundreds of children from Poulton have taken part over the last 6 years. The children always have a great time making new friends, learning new skills and getting fit.
Multi Use Games Area for Poulton
A Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) for use by the community is coming to Poulton soon.
The MUGA is going to be built at Morecambe Community High School within the outdoor games area and will be of benefit to both the school and the wider community outside of school hours.
Poulton Neighbourhood Management has spent over a year planning and consulting on the feasibility of a MUGA in Poulton and we are delighted that Morecambe Community High School is creating what will be a fantastic community resource.
Lancaster City Council’s Cultural Services department is looking to use the MUGA for holiday activities and structured games for young people in the evenings. Also, the recently launched KICKZ scheme will transfer into the Multi Use Games Area so that it can take place 52 weeks of the year.
Building of the site is scheduled to take place this summer and the school staff are hopeful that it will be ready by the start of the new school year in September.
