Birthday Celebrations for the Rainbow Centre
The Rainbow Centre is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and has produced a commemorative booklet.
The commemorative booklet is available for sale at the Rainbow Centre and Poulton Neighbourhood Management office.
Inside the booklet there is lots of information about the history of the Rainbow Centre, which was officially opened by the Queen Mother in 1967. There are plenty of photographs inside, and personal memories from those who have worked and attended the centre.
The Rainbow Centre is a community centre for those aged over 55 and is open Monday-Thursday 10am – 4pm. The centre closes on a Friday for the Housebound Club. There is a Luncheon Club running Monday – Thursday at 12.15pm.
A small annual membership fee is payable which allows you to attend activities including; Tai Chi, art, needlework, dancing, table tennis, singing, computers and lots more. There is also a games room with a full size snooker table and darts board. They hold regular social events and go on coach trips too.

New Look for Fisherman’s Square
Fisherman’s Square is about to undergo a transformation which will tie in modern landscaping design whilst remaining in keeping with Poulton’s heritage.

Proposals for transforming this site had been planned during the HomeZone development. Unfortunately, there weren’t sufficient resources at the time to complete the scheme. We have now secured funds to landscape the square in line with our original proposals. We are using the same contracting team that carried out the work on the Homezone and we know how well they worked in the past with the local community.
If you have any comments on details of the design please feel free to call in at the Poulton Neighbourhood Management office on Euston Road and have your views recorded. There is model version of the design in the PNM office, call in if you would like to have a closer look.
The contractors hope to start work on site shortly after Christmas and I am sure that they will keep any disruption to a minimum.
