Poulton Residents Proud of Heritage

Poulton Neighbourhood Management has re-instated the interpretation panel, celebrating local heritage, in Poulton Park.

Poulton Residents Association applied for a ‘Quick Response’ grant for a new plaque, which provides information on the history of the site and the final remains of Poulton Hall – the archway which now stands in the middle of the park. The Poulton Neighbourhood Management Board successfully approved the grant for £358.38.

The interpretation panel helps to celebrate local history emphasising the historic importance of the site.

The old panel had been subjected to vandalism, so the new one has been designed by Desiccant Dryair Systems, to be practically ‘vandal-proof’.

Councillor Shirley Burns, Chair of Poulton Neighbourhood Management said: “Local people are proud of the area’s heritage and Neighbourhood Management is pleased to encourage and support these efforts. By providing a new plaque we are sending out a clear message that vandalism will not be tolerated.”

Quick response to light up Rainbow Centre

Poulton Neighbourhood Management has granted £300 to the Rainbow Centre for security lighting.

The Rainbow Centre, on Clarence Street, has been subjected to acts of vandalism in the past diverting the organisation from its important work that they carry out in the community, especially for older and vulnerable residents.

The increased security measures will ensure that vandalism is eliminated resulting in a cleaner, safer neighbourhood.
Sue Hargreaves, Rainbow Centre Manager said: “The security lighting has made a huge difference to us and the users of the centre because the incidences of vandalism and litter have significantly dropped. The centre is now a safer place for our visitors.”

Chair of Poulton Neighbourhood Management, Coun Shirley Burns said: “The centre provides a valuable resource for the local community and it is extremely well attended. Poulton Neighbourhood Management are pleased to offer the Rainbow Centre funding assistance to discourage acts of vandalism.”
