Community Christmas
Children from local schools provided the Nativity scene, local Churches offered prayers, the Salvation Army supplied the music and local residents brought the festive cheer to Poulton’s Community Christmas back in December.
Morecambe awash with new loos
Morecambe now boasts two brand new toilet facilities thanks to Lancaster City Council and Poulton Neighbourhood Management.
This significant investment in the town’s infrastructure provides clean, modern facilities for both visitors and local people.

Neighbourhood Management and the City Council believe that in order to regenerate the town we have to get the basics right. Many people recognised that the old facilities were well past their ‘sell by date’ and reflected badly on the town.
A new toilet block has been built next to the Arndale Centre, on Market Street Car Park, and opened just after Christmas. It is sited at a convenient location for local shoppers. The Clock Tower facility has been completely modernised and is likely to cater more for visitors to the town.
All the cubicles can be accessed directly from the outside of the building, with individual wash basins in each unit. There is a charge of 20p for the use of the toilets. All the new toilets will be given an improved maintenance and cleaning regime.
The toilets have been built by Danfo Ltd, and are similar to ones already in use in Blackpool and Southport.
Councillor Shirley Burns, Chair of Poulton Neighbourhood Management said: “I am delighted that these new facilities have opened in good time for the coming season. People are very pleased that we have modern, clean and safe toilets in Morecambe.’
Coun Jon Barry, Cabinet Member with responsibility for City Council (Direct) Services, said:
“This has been a most positive piece of joint working with the Council and Neighbourhood Management and the town now has facilities of which it can be proud.”
