Looking Back On Poulton’s Past

Poulton Neighbourhood Management have produced a calendar for 2007 with a collection of photographs from Poulton’s past.

The photographs capture the atmosphere of what was not only a thriving seaside resort for holidaymakers, but also a busy community for those who lived here.

The pictures illustrate some dramatic changes that have taken place over the years and also some views which are still very familiar.

The calendar cost £5.00 each all of which is donated to Qsands, a local art group based at Mona House.

The calendars would make ideal Christmas gifts and have been popular amongst people who once lived in Morecambe and have moved away but still have fond memories of the place.

They are on sale at the Poulton Neighbourhood Management Office on Euston Road, in the Town Square outside the Arndale shopping Centre.

Poulton Neighbourhood Management would like to thank Ray Parkinson for providing the photographs.

Invitation To Poulton’s Community Christmas Event

Poulton Neighbourhood Management would like to invite you to the ‘Community Christmas’ event, to be held at the Eric Morecambe statue on the promenade on Tuesday 12th December at 6.30pm.

Preparations for the event are underway and involve local residents, Church leaders, school children, Poulton Neighbourhood Management and The Salvation Army Band.

The event has previously been held at the Poulton Arch but this year we have decided to meet up at the Eric Morecambe statue on the promenade. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in with the festivities.

There will be carol singing accompanied by the Salvation Army Band and Christmas readings from local Churches as well as a children’s nativity tableau by the local primary school pupils from Poulton-le-Sands, St Mary’s and Morecambe Bay. The children will also be reading a Christmas poem.
