Wacky Day Of Fun

Younger members of the Poulton Sports Academy were rewarded with an afternoon of fun at the Wacky Warehouse.

The fun day was organised by Sue Boswell from Poulton Neighbourhood Management to say thank you and well done to everyone who attended the sports academy.

Mike Ellis, a local volunteer with the sports academy, organised a trip for the older children to Ewood Park to watch a Blackburn Rovers football match earlier this year.

The sessions for Poulton Sports Academy will start again in September and run during term time. The sessions are held after school on Mondays at Poulton-le-Sands Primary School and on Fridays at Morecambe Bay Primary School.

A Bright Future For Queen Street

In the spring, Poulton Neighbourhood Management submitted a bid for improved street lighting for Queen Street via Lancaster’s Community Safety Partnership. We have just heard that our bid was successful and we will be seeing new lighting on Queen Street before too long.

We have been advised about the best solutions for improving Queen Street’s lights by engineers working with the County Council and by Lancashire Constabulary. The street can be something of a ‘hot spot’ for anti-social behaviour, particularly on a Friday and Saturday night and improved lights will help to deter this sort of problem. It will also mean that the CCTV cameras at either end of the street will be more effective in helping to track and identify troublemakers.

We are also looking to assist with other improvements for Queen’s Street such as the removal of redundant signs and other dilapidated wall mounted features which give a poor impression of the area
