For many people working for themselves just gives them a much better life experience. Some just want to escape the drudgery of traditional jobs; others want the freedom of being their own boss. It’s also ideal for people who have other commitments and can’t fit in a normal 9 to 5 job. Whatever your reason, self-employment is more and more a realistic option for all types of people. Over half of all self-employed people are over the age of 45, but it’s just as good an option for the young. And if you’re unemployed, and under 31 or over 50, there’s special financial support from the Princes Trust and other organisations.
